The liquid polyurethane resin is applied as the final operation after the label has been printed and die-cut. It is applied in a liquid form and flows to the edge of the label and sets after 24 hours in a layer approximately 2mm thick, giving a 3D "lens" effect to the label.

3D doming decal is usually printed in full colour on to a durable synthetic material such as polyester or vinyl.
